Hello Everyone,
I would like to get a feel from the Student Community about some Guidelines information for the Student Recording Competition.
I would like to know your opinion about the clarity of the explanations on how to deliver your projects and also to know if you would like to have a description box to insert some text about your recording. It could include some information that you would like to share with us (the Student Delegates - NOT the judges as it could impair their judgment).
There could be more than one way of approaching the problem:
One could be to describe why your recording should be part of this category of the competition;
OR
We would have to agree on a description (somewhat general) about each category of the competition and if the recording would get consensus that it should not be part of this category, be discarded by the judges.
e.g. A Jazz piece must have some elements that categorizes such a piece - like they would for the Grammys or a similar billboard chart -, like improvisation or the use of traditional instruments associated to jazz, etc.)
I am asking this because as of today, Jazz and World music can overlap on some aspects. Should a Samba with some imporovisation by a Tenor sax and a Trumpet be considered World or Folk, Jazz or Pop...
I would like to get a feel from all of you guys! Cheers

Me, personally, would like to compete in sound for film category in the upcoming 128th convention, but i am somewhat confused about the delivery formats of video files i am doing a sound for. FPS? MOV,AVI? etc.
Second question is about the delivery itself. Do i e-mail it or send it via post office services and to who?
These things are rather blurry to understand using the internet presentation.
Regards, Milutin Beslic.

I think the best thing to do would be the first option. As we are the ones who worked with the artists we know exactly how the artist feels about the "genre" his or her music is part of.
However, I don't really have a problem with generalizing genre for example; classical, jazz, pop.
hope this helps,
How do we submit our recordings?

Personally, I would think it fair if both were taken into consideration. I do believe that if you had us describe why we think our entry fits a certain competition, it would give the judges another angle to discuss if there is any entry in question.
